Union officials informed Homer Laughlin that voting by members of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers Union (GMP) Local 419 was completed today and that the agreements have been ratified. Homer Laughlin President Elizabeth McIlvain said, “This ‘yes’ vote is good news for Homer Laughlin and it is good news for Newell, the unions, our employees and, ultimately, our customers. We are gratified that our represented employees have solidly backed this contract. It provides an excellent job package, but also allows for the continued manufacture of our high-quality dinnerware, made right here in West Virginia, USA.” Union leaders and Homer Laughlin reached agreement on the labor contract in the early hours of November 16th, after two weeks of negotiations. Approximately 600 union-represented employees are covered by the approved contracts.
