Bernardaud's new BOIS brings together the refinement of their Limoges porcelain body and the artistic talents of the company's designers to offer chefs a more "organic" palette for their culinary creations. With flat plates in either a light or dark look, new BOIS offers the perfect compliment to Bernardaud's existing collections.
Bernardaud has continued to develop their Hotel Collection of porcelain dinnerware bearing in mind the operational constraints of luxury hotel and restaurants and in response to the multiple applications in hospitality….room service, banquet room, Bistro service, formal dining, and even bar & lounge. The company’s extensive knowledge acquired through many years of collaborations with world renowned chefs and prestigious hotels worldwide. This experience has allowed Bernardaud to develop a range of complete collections that are varied in style, yet still complementary to one another. Bernardaud: New BOIS Continues The Trend of Setting A Fine Dining Standard - Ryan Blaszczak Strahl has been the “go-to” brand for unbreakable, high-quality beverageware in the North American and several other global markets in the hospitality industry for a number of years. Can you tell us a little about the company and its history? Strahl Beverageware is a brand under the corporate name of Innova Products Limited which our world headquarters is based in Auckland, New Zealand. The first glass was designed in 1991 by Peter Jarvis in New Zealand. Mr. Jarvis was a manufacturer and exporter of acrylic drinkware. He was became increasing aware of the widespread dissatisfaction of this type of resin base drinkware. In his research he discovered polycarbonate was a superior plastic that offered durability and could withstand both domestic and commercial dishwasher cycles. As the story goes, he built a “better mousetrap” and decided to produce a beverageware line of products that were hand finish and tempered using polycarbonate with the intent to offer a superior looking plastic glass that had the weight and feel of glass but with a virtually unbreakable attribute.
As certain beverage categories grow such as craftbeer, brown distilled spirits, etc. will we see Strahl bring more beverage-specific glass shapes to market as the traditional breakable glassware companies have done? One of our goals is to increase our beer offering for 2016. Currently we have 5 new products that are schedule to ship the first quarter of 2016. One current problem with injection molding is to offer beverage-specific stylish glasses but we are working on it. We know you have recently promoted to President of Global Sales for the Strahl brand, so congratulations. Can you give us an idea of your plans for building the Strahl brand around the world? Our biggest market for Strahl is the North America market. In the past four years we have made steady gains with better exposure on our products. Progress has also been made in Central and South America under my watch. Our corporate office would like me to duplicate my efforts to other parts of the world through our territory managers to gain valuable marketshare mainly through the hospitality/commercial markets. When Strahl was first introduced, it was sold to retail accounts. The main focus was retail when I joined the organization. We still retail but the hospitality/commercial markets is the ideal setting for Strahl which has been my game plan all along. Hollowick's New FIREFLY Jar Light Perfect for Outdoor Summer Dining The new MANHATTAN glass from Duralex is manufactured to last as long as its namesake drink and that, by all accounts, has already been since the 1800s. A MANHATTAN glass has to be tough to tolerate being chilled in the freezer and sterilized in a hot commercial dishwasher. Duralex has designed their MANHATTAN glasses to be a "go-to" glass for spirits and are frequently abused. The new MANHATTAN glass from Duralex comes in three sizes (two low ball and one high ball) and features faceted lines to show off the color of the liquors. The glasses are available in three sizes and are toughened through a tempering process to withstand the rigors of a professional bar. Sounds like a perfect upgrade to help differentiate your bar and cocktail selections. From France, Duralex celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2015 and marks this year with new glassware for each season. Each product is carefully designed so it could be a favorite for a lifetime: simple design, durability, clarity and cheer. Duralex has been manufacturing drinking glasses in France for 70 years and invented tempered glass in 1939. It is the only glass manufacturing company that manufacturers all of its products in France. To that, all we can add is “cheers!” For more information on Duralex and its new MANHATTAN glassware, go here: Duralex: New MANHATTAN Glass Is as Tough as its Namesake Drink Next up in our on-going series of highlighting some of the great restaurant photographers is Tom McGovern.
