One of the world's oldest hospitality dinnerware companies - Churchill China - recently made the switch to one of the worlds's newest provider of IT solutions - Google Apps for Business - and Churchill's IT Manager, Alistair Henderson is more than pleased. Data transfer during the switch was handled by Cloud Technology Solutions, who has since continued on providing additional value-added services to Churchill. “The chosen solution had to fulfill three criteria: highly reliable; highly usable and affordable. In reality the operating expenses could not increase and this was why we chose Google Apps for Business after reviewing all the options open to us. We have nearly 200 people spread across the globe so we needed an e-mail system that was readily available anywhere and Google Apps easily met this criteria," commented Henderson, after the company had reviewed a variety of options to replace its previous Lotus Notes system.

In busy restaurants, where fine porcelain is expected to work hard and look beautiful, the MERAN and MERAN COUPE lines from Seltmann by Frieling have become bestsellers for their superior materials, design and performance. The MERAN line exemplifies the classic look, while the MERAN COUPE incorporates a more modern look and feel, with a distinctive curved appearance. Made to last, MERAN COUPE stands out as Seltmann’s most durable line, because it is the heaviest and thickest. The two lines complement each other and can be mixed and matched to provide the restaurateur with more versatility and creative options. Both the MERAN and MERAN COUPE lines feature a full range of 70 items, including plates, bowls, platters and cup/saucer sets, as well as a tureen, gravy boat, coffee pot, tea pot and more. Seltmann fine porcelain is renown for its superior design and performance. It is lead-free and cadmium-free, meeting strict California regulations, and it is stronger, lighter and more translucent thanks to its ideal formula of the finest raw materials. It will not scratch because of its extremely hard glaze, and it resists breaking and chipping, with its rolled edges and material hardness. The unglazed feet are diamond polished three times and precisely leveled, preventing it from wobbling, spinning or scratching tables. The MERAN and MERAN Coupe lines also store heat efficiently and release it slowly, keeping foods at prime serving temperature longer. They are 100% dishwasher safe, 100% microwavable and 100% oven safe, including convection ovens, salamanders and broilers. Seltmann offers consistent dimensions, regardless of production year. In North America, Seltmann fine porcelain is available through Frieling. To see the complete line of Frieling and Seltmann products, go here: http://frieling.com/

The Sentinel newspaper reports that with the acquisition of Royal Crown Derby announced, Steelite has pledged to retain the 200-person workforce of Royal Crown Derby and production will remain in the city , continuing a tradition that dates back to 1750. It is the impending retirement of chief executive Hugh Gibson that prompted the sale of the business to Steelite International. Steelite, which manufactures and sells tableware to hotels and restaurants, has a turnover of £66m, around nine times that of Royal Crown Derby. There are historic links between the two businesses, both having formerly been part of the Royal Doulton Group. Royal Crown Derby left the group in 2000, having been subject to a buyout led by Mr Gibson. Mr Gibson said: "After careful consideration I have decided it is time for me to retire, and know I am leaving Royal Crown Derby in the very safest hands. It has been a privilege to be the custodian of Royal Crown Derby for so many years and I am certain it will thrive and maintain its special place in the heart of the nation under Steelite International's stewardship." According to local news reports, tabletop leader Steelite International has bought the British dinnerware and giftware brand Royal Crown Derby. Steelite anticipates it can help Royal Crown Derby strengthen its brand around the world with the launch of Royal Crown Derby Entertains. Kevin Oakes, chief executive of Steelite International, told local Stoke-On-Trent newspaper The Sentinel: "This is excellent news for both companies. Like us, Royal Crown Derby has a first-class reputation across the globe and we know that our expertise as a major ceramics industry player can only strengthen the business offering from Royal Crown Derby and ensure they reach new heights of success. We have researched the international hospitality market very carefully over the past year and know that there is a market for fine bone china which boasts that genuine “Made in England” pedigree. Royal Crown Derby Entertains will most definitely fulfill that niche."
